Winemaking:
The Quinta Vale D. Maria “Vinha do Rio” grapes are trodden by foot and fully fermented in lagares for 7 to 10 days at temperatures ranging between 22° and 27° Celsius. The resulting wines are then transferred to new 225 liter French Allier oak barrels from various cooperages, namely François Frères and Taransaud, where they undergo malolactic fermentation. The final choice of barrels and stocking took place between May and June of the second year after the harvest. The wine is normally bottled two to three weeks after blending.

Old VinesTasting Notes:
It is a red wine with an incredibly deep color. There are shades of deep violet, purple and dark red. This wine is made from a 100-year-old vineyard that gives rise to a concentrated wine, full of aromas of ripe red fruits, with a high complexity and elegance that only such a vineyard can create. There is a certain mature attitude to this wine which shows aromas of raspberries, plums and black cherries, combined with fresh notes of rock rose, none of these flavors are too obvious and too overt, but come through with understated elegance as the wine flows. the palate and evolves in the glass.Store and serve advice:
