Vinification:
Vinified in the Quinta da Leda winery, with grapes selected mainly from this farm, but also from higher areas of the Douro Superior. After destemming and gentle crushing, the grapes were placed in stainless steel vats, where alcoholic fermentation took place. A long and gentle maceration was carried out at a controlled temperature in order to extract the compounds that contribute to the color, aroma, flavor and longevity of the wine. It aged in French oak barrels for a period of about 18 months. The final batch was made based on the careful selection of the best wines, resulting from the numerous tests and analyzes carried out on the different batches and existing barrels, throughout this period. It is in this selection that lies the “secret” of Barca-Velha. To preserve the highest quality, it was subjected to filtration just before bottling.
